DAY 01

RISHIKESH — THE EXPEDITION BEGINS

Altitude: ~340 m
Overnight: Rishikesh

Every expedition needs a beginning.

Arrive in Rishikesh and meet your riding team. Complete bike allocation, documentation and a detailed briefing covering the border route, high-altitude riding, permits and expedition protocols.

In the evening, leave the motorcycles behind and experience the spiritual side of the Ganga at Parmarth Niketan’s Ganga Aarti.

Tonight: Rest well. Tomorrow, the mountains begin.

DAY 02

RISHIKESH → JOSHIMATH

Following the Five Sacred Confluences

Distance: ~280 km
Overnight: Joshimath

The expedition moves north.

Ride through the dramatic Alaknanda valley, passing the legendary Panch Prayag — the five sacred river confluences of Uttarakhand.

Devprayag → Rudraprayag → Karnaprayag → Nandaprayag → Joshimath

The landscape changes with every kilometre: river valleys give way to towering Himalayan walls, pine forests and increasingly remote mountain settlements.

By evening, arrive at Joshimath, your gateway to the restricted border region.

DAY 03

JOSHIMATH → MANA VILLAGE

Where the Road Meets the Frontier

Overnight: Mana Village / approved accommodation

Leave Joshimath and climb towards Badrinath and Mana — one of India’s most celebrated frontier villages.

Mana isn’t simply a destination.

It is the threshold between the inhabited Himalaya and the high-altitude frontier.

Explore the legendary Vyas Cave, Bhim Pul and the Saraswati River, while the surrounding peaks begin to dominate the horizon.

This is also your important acclimatization day before attempting extreme altitude.

Mission tonight: Acclimatize. Hydrate. Sleep early.

Tomorrow, the expedition goes higher.

DAY 04

MANA → MANA PASS → MANA

THE HIGH FRONTIER

Approx. 18,400 ft / 5,610 m

This is the day the expedition has been building towards.

Before sunrise, prepare for the ride towards Mana Pass.

Cross the route through Gastoli and Deo Tal, climbing into an austere world of barren mountains, snowfields and almost no permanent human habitation.

At extreme altitude, the landscape becomes almost lunar.

And then comes the frontier.

MANA PASS

One of the highest-accessible points on this Himalayan route and a location controlled by the Indian security forces.

Important: Access beyond designated points is subject to Army/security clearance, weather, road conditions and government restrictions. The pass may not be accessible on the scheduled day.

If clearance is granted, this becomes the defining moment of the expedition.

If not, the day follows the approved alternate route.

Rule of the frontier:
The mountains don’t owe us access. We ride only where permission allows.

Return to Mana/Joshimath depending on operational conditions.

DAY 05

JOSHIMATH → MALARI → NITI VALLEY → RIMKHIM

Into the Forgotten Trade Route

Leave the main tourist circuit behind.

Ride towards Malari, an ancient settlement on the historic Indo-Tibetan trade route, before entering the increasingly remote Niti Valley.

Traditional stone-and-wood houses, barren slopes and enormous mountain walls accompany the ride.

Eventually, the road leads towards Rimkhim — a vast, remote high-altitude landscape where the silence feels almost unreal.

🏔️ Remote Himalayan frontier

Tonight: Under a sky with almost no city lights.

DAY 06

RIMKHIM → LAPTHAL → JOSHIMATH

THE FOSSIL FRONTIER

Today’s destination lies in one of the most geologically fascinating corners of the Himalaya.

Push towards Lapthal, a remote high-altitude landscape near the Chamoli–Pithoragarh frontier.

Here, the mountains reveal a story far older than the Himalayas themselves.

Ancient marine fossils can be found in the region — remnants from the Tethys Sea, whose disappearance and the collision of the Indian and Eurasian plates helped create the Himalayan mountain system.

You’re not simply looking at rocks.

You’re looking at a chapter of Earth’s history.

After exploring the permitted area, begin the long return ride towards Joshimath.

Tonight: Final night in the mountains.

DAY 07

JOSHIMATH → RISHIKESH

Back to the Valley

The final riding day.

Descend through the Alaknanda valley, retracing the dramatic mountain roads towards Rishikesh.

The high peaks slowly disappear behind you, replaced by forests, rivers and warmer valley air.

Arrive in Rishikesh, return the motorcycles and receive your expedition completion certificate.

But the real souvenir isn’t the certificate.

It’s knowing that you rode to places where very few travellers ever get permission to go.

THE EXPEDITION YOU’LL TALK ABOUT FOR YEARS

Mana Pass — Ride towards one of India’s most restricted high-altitude frontiers.

Rimkhim — Experience the solitude of an alpine landscape far beyond the conventional tourist trail.

Lapthal — Discover fossils that tell the story of an ancient sea and the birth of the Himalayas.

Niti Valley — Follow an ancient trade corridor through some of India’s most remote settlements.

This isn’t a checklist of tourist attractions.

It’s seven days on the edge of the Himalaya.

⚠️ FRONTIER EXPEDITION — IMPORTANT

This is a restricted-border expedition, not a conventional motorcycle tour.

Access to Mana Pass, Rimkhim, Lapthal and other frontier areas is subject to:

  • Army/security clearance
  • Inner Line Permits / local permissions
  • Weather and road conditions
  • Government regulations
  • Local administration instructions
  • Route accessibility on the day of travel

No access is guaranteed.

If a restricted destination is closed, the itinerary will be modified according to the safest and legally permitted alternative.

We don’t ride against the mountains. We ride with them.
