Kuari Pass The best time to do this trek is during winters. Kauri Pass is covered with a thick patch of snow in December, January, February, March, April. It has excellent panoramic views when you reach the Kuari Top, Khulara, Gorson or Auli. The entire route is adorned with large meadows, pine forests and tinny villages making it more marvelous.

  • Hire an experienced trekking guide to accompany you on your trek. These guides have much knowledge and expertise about the route.
  • It is wise to check with local authorities, tour guides or tour operators about the weather and road conditions during monsoons before you actually start your trek.

Itinerary

Arrive in joshimath check in at our branch office in joshimath, transfer to room dinner and stay overnight in joshimath.

After having breakfast drive is towards Dhak village 1hrs drive, from here the trek starts. Ascent gradually for some time and you will come across “Karachi” a small village. It is amid tall mountains and there is green vegetation all across the hills with step farms.

After you gradually gain altitude you come across another high altitude village “Tugasi” it is a Himalayan village where Garhwali culture is followed. Rest here for some time and then head towards your campsite Gulling. The campsite lies 0.5 km further Gulling village it is a wide green stretch which offers unusual sight of Garhwal Himalayas and 360 degree view of Hathi Parbat, Ghori Parbat and Dronagiri. Our camp is already setup here welcome drink and later dinner. Overnight stay will be in tents.

The trail is an ascending one from Gulling top to Khulara. Trek carefully on the rough terrain with exotic views of snow- capped mountains throughout the way.

Go through the forests of Oaks, Pines and Rhododendrons. They are found in abundance there with blossoming flowers and snow all over. After a long hike reach your campsite Khulara. Dinner and Stay up here.

Morning Breakfast and start up trek to kuari pass, the trek is usually a gradual ascent till Khualara top, followed by snow patches. Kauri pass top route is small zig zag hike, it is the highest point of the trail. Kuari Pass is popular for being a part of Lord Curzon’s Trail which opens up to the other side of the valley that leads to Trisul, Nanda Kot and other legendary peaks around the Kumaon region. Trek back to Khullara Top after spending some good time at the pass.

Return back to Camp after having lunch packed at pass. Enjoy the pictures and get yourself immersed in the charisma of the Himalayas. Trek back by same route as there is not any other route to be back to khulara. Evening tea snacks and dinner.

After quick breakfast we follow the same trail to get back to Dhak village through picturesque Himalayan villages with vanishing sight of snow clad mountains. The trek ends at this point.

Vehicle will be arranged till Joshimath Or We will follow another trail from Khulara to Tali top to Gorson meadow and then Auli ski adventure sports and then drive 1 hours to Joshimath (this route will be only done once snow patches are clear in some difficult risky point). Reach Joshimath. Dinner and stay up here.

After Breakfast onwards journey. Or we can arrange the cab for onwards journey.

How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will to, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude reached is 4190m. This is the elevation of Annapurna Base Camp. ABC is the highest we will climb in this trek.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, hot water facility could be free at lower elevation.

Are there ATMs on the way to Annapurna Base Camp?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, ABC trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during off season.

It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.

How much do guides and porters cost?

For Annapurna region, pay for guides range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.
